Cyberspace Administration of China Warns Weibo, Kuaishou for Content Breaches

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) issued a warning to Weibo Corporation and Kuaishou Technology for failing to fulfill their responsibility for information content management. Their platforms was found to be promoting celebrity personal updates and trivial terms at the top of hot search lists, which violates the regulations on the Ecological Governance of Network Information Content.

Weibo Corporation is a microblogging website based in China, launched by Sina Corporation on August 14, 2009.

Kuaishou Technology is a Chinese short video platform headquartered in Haidian District, Beijing. It was developed in 2011 by Hua Su and Cheng Yixaio. 

The cyberspace department has ordered for an immediate interview at both companies, implement corrections at a set time frame, and deal strictly with those responsible within the platforms.

The cyberspace department is committed to the promoting of an healthy online environment in the interest of the people.
