Senate Hawley launched an investigation on Friday, August 15, into Meta's policies, concerning reports on training of its AI chatbot to engage in inappropriate conversations with kids. Senate Hawley, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on crime and counterterrorism, is investigating whether Meta AI was involved in exploitation or sensual conversations with children. He requested in a letter sent to CEO Mark Zuckerberg, to hand over the company's relevant documents and communications relating to reports on its policy documents on AI behavior guidelines, permitting romantic and sensual conversations with children. He noted: "parents deserve the truth, and kids deserve protection". As part of his investigation, Hawley intends to find out who approved these policies, how long they have been in effect and their efforts so far to stop this conduct. Meta has been given untill September 19, 2025, to provide all necessary documents requested for the probe.

   Igor Babuschkin announced his departure from xAI to launch an AI safety venture. Igor Babuschkin formerly served as; a member of the technical staff at OpenAI from November 2020 to March 2022, a senior staff research engineer at DeepMind from April 2022 to February 2023 and then as co-founder at xAI from May 2023 to August 2025. xAI was incorporated on March 9, 2023 by Elon Musk and was publicly announced on July 12, 2023. Elon Musk recruited Igor Babuschkin, who co-founded xAI and served as the company's Chief Engineer. Igor Babuschkin was responsible for building most of the foundational tools used to launch and manage training jobs. He also oversaw the engineering aspect of the company like infrastructure, product and applied AI project. The team built the Memphis Supercluster in 120 days, first in history. On July 5, John Collision, co-founder of Stripe, posted a request via his X account and tagging Sundar Pichai saying: Could we get Ctrl-click on Google calendar to duplicate events, like many native calendar application have. On August 13, Sundar Pichai replied to the post, acknowledged the request and announced that the feature is now live on the web version of Google's calendar. This new feature is currently available only on the web version of Google's calendar. With this feature, users can hold the Ctrl key (on Windows) and drag an event to instantly create a copy

Apple is set to open its manufacturing academy in Detroit on August 19. This program aims at training and supporting Americans businesses, innovators, and manufacturers. The initiative is part of Apple's pledge to invest more than $500 billion in the United States over the next four years. The program will be offered for free and Apple have partnered with Michigan State University to host businesses across the country with Apple experts.
